ECC Men's Basketball Report - Week Four

Player of the Week

James Patterson, St. Thomas Aquinas
Sophomore | Guard/Forward | Richmond, Va.

Patterson averaged 22.0 points per game and 7.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for St. Thomas Aquinas. The four-time ECC Player of the Week dropped 24 points and seven rebounds in an 87-70 win over Georgian Court and had a 20-point and eight-rebound performance against Mercy. The STAC sophomore also shot 93.3 percent from the foul line (14-of-15). Patterson ranks second nationally in total points (291), fourth nationally in total double doubles (4), field goals made (74), and free throws made (54), seventh nationally in points per game (24.3), and 10th nationally in rebounds (78). 


Defensive Player of the Week

Joey Atkins, Daemen
Graduate Student | Forward | Watervliet, N.Y.

Atkins headed up a defensive effort that limited Roberts Wesleyan to 37-percent shooting (22-for-60) from the field and 68 total points as Daemen opened conference play with an 86-68 win. The Daemen graduate student flirted with a triple-double, as he finished with seven points, a team-high nine rebounds (seven defensive), a team-high three blocks, and a career-high nine assists. Atkins ranks in the ECC's top five in rebounds (69), assists (28), and blocks (13), and ranks sixth in points (123).

ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Jamal Barnes, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Guard | Temple Hills, Md.

Barnes averaged 16.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week. The senior guard recorded 15 points and three rebounds to go with three assists and four steals in a win over Georgian Court and had a 17-point and four-rebound performance in a win over Mercy. 

Malik Bentinck, Queens
Senior | Forward | St. Albans, N.Y.

Bentinck averaged 10.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks over the course of two games. Against UDC on Wednesday evening, Bentinck recorded a career-best night with his second double-double of the year and first in ECC play with 14 points and 13 rebounds to go with one block and two steals as Queens earned their first ECC opener victory since the 2019-2020 season.

Tevin Curtis, District of Columbia
Junior | Guard | Baltimore, Md.

Curtis averaged 10.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in a 1-1 week for UDC. In the Firebirds’ win over Molloy, Curtis recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Dylan Fasoyiro, Daemen
Senior | Guard | Houston, Texas

Fasoyiro dropped 30 points to lead the Wildcats to an 86-68 win over Roberts Wesleyan in the Wildcats’ lone game of the week. The Daemen senior established his career-highs for field goals attempted (18) and made (11) in a game and totaled 30 points, one shy of his career high. Fasoyiro connected on 5-of-7 three-pointers and also contributed seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks. He scored 18 of his points in the second half to help the Wildcats break open a four-point game at halftime.

Bryce Waterman, Staten Island
Graduate Student | Forward | Colonie, N.Y.

Waterman averaged 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for Staten Island, including a 24-point, eight-rebound effort on Wednesday against Molloy. His scoring and outside shooting helped lead the Dolphins to a pair of conference wins as he shot nearly 54% from the field and 9-15 from beyond the arc across two games. Most notably, he connected on his first four threes in Saturday's win against Queens and scored 15 second-half points in the CSI comeback victory over Molloy.
