Full Results

South Huntington, N.Y. - For the second straight year, both the Molloy men and University of the District of Columbia women's indoor track and field teams have been crowned as ECC indoor track and field champions.

In the women's championship, University of the District of Columbia actually came in second behind Roberts Wesleyan, 143-138. However, as NCAA Provisional Members, Roberts Wesleyan is ineligible to win the conference championship thus elevating the Firebirds to the top spot.

Four different Firebirds won five individual events, led by Kaydian Jones winning both the 200 meter dash (25.45) and the long jump (5.69 meters). Other UDC standouts to top individual events on the day include Brittany Okon (60 meter dash - 7.91), Jerily Benjamin (400 meter run - 59.73), and Marlena Wright (500 meter run - 1:20.18).

UDC also topped two relays. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Charmaine Sweeney, Christina Baker, Jasmine Smith, and Benjamin as well as the 4 x 400 meter team of Wright, Benjamin, Simone Grant, and Jones both crossed the finish line first in their respective races.

Roberts Wesleyan won six individual events and two relay events. Rachel Prutsman was a two-event winner taking both the 3000 meter run (10:45.90) and the 5000 meter run (19:55.30). Rachel Hust (800 meter run - 2:17.42), Rachel Hutchinson (1000 meter run - 3:11.58), Megan Hulton (Mile Run - 5:33.20), and Hope Olsen (pole vault - 3.00 meters) were other individual champions for the Redhawks.

The Roberts Wesleyan 4 x 800 team of Rachel Putman, Abigail Monroe, Hust, and Hutchinson and the distance medley team of Hulton, Hutchinson, Brittany Ward, and Hust also topped their races.

In the men's championship, Molloy narrowly topped St. Thomas Aquinas, 138-132. The Lions only won two individual events and one relay, with winning performances coming from Tyler Capozzoli (500 meter run - 1:07.70), Joseph Johnson (triple jump - 13.18 meters), and the distance medley team of Thomas Dreyer, Mario Buscemi, Johnson, and Mike Darnell.

A pivotal event for Molloy came in the triple jump, where the top five finishers were all Lions to earn the team 30 points.

Johnson put together a solid performance in the winning effort. In addition to winning the triple jump, he also finished third in the 60 meter hurdles, second with the 4 x 400 meter relay team, first with the distance medley team, and third in the pole vault.

Other outstanding performers on the day included Robert Wesleyan's Enock Bor, Queens' Kurt Samuel, and St. Thomas Aquinas' George Erazo. All three runners won two separate events with Bor taking the 3000 meter run (9:06.06) and the 5000 meter  run (15:46.78), Samuel topping the 800 meter run (1:58.50) and the mile run (4:26.00), and Erazo topping the 200 meter dash (22.98) and the 400 meter run (49.75).
