"It is great to continue our relationship with the Legacy Retirement Home,” said Coach Kirsten Meyers. “Many of the residents attended Roberts Wesleyan and love to hear what is happening on campus now. Our team also benefits as we gain perspective on having an outwardly focus in serving others."
This year, the team was able to paint the pumpkins with over 15 residents. Afterwards, both the student-athletes and residents at Legacy commented on how enjoyable it was to share in an activity with both generations.
The relationship the team has built over the last three years has grown enough that Legacy’s social director is promoting a trip for some of the residents to watch the Redhawks play when they host Queens College on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1pm. The match is also Senior Day, which is when the team recognizes its senior class playing in their final home match of the season.
The team also has plans to return in December for another type of Christmas social event. Last year, the team decorated Christmas cookies with the residents.
