Bridgeport Tops First NCAA Volleyball Regional Rankings; Dowling Remains Nationally Ranked

Indianapolis - After defeating previously unbeaten Dowling last week, the University of Bridgeport volleyball team was ranked in the top spot in the first NCAA Regional rankings of the year that also featured three other East Coast Conference members.

Bridgeport, with a record of 17-2, took the top spot on the first NCAA East Region rankings. The Purple Knights put together a 2-1 record last week with the highlight being a 3-1 victory over conference foe Dowling. The victory over the Golden Lions moved Bridgeport into first place in the ECC with a perfect 7-0 record.

Despite the loss to Bridgeport, Dowling comes in at No. 2 in the East Region poll with a record of 17-1 (6-1 ECC). The Golden Lions also remained in the AVCA national rankings, coming in at No. 24 in this week’s poll.

C.W. Post and NYIT round out the ECC members in this week’s regional rankings, coming in at No. 7 with a record of 16-8, while NYIT is No. 8 with a record of 14-8.
