Player of the Week

Somadi Druker, Concordia (So., No. 1 Singles,   Cape Town, South Africa) - Posted singles and doubles victories at No. 1 in the semifinals and finals of the ECC team tournament, and went on to capture the title at the flight tournament, going 3-0 in singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles at Queens over the weekend. Was later named ECC Player of the Year and First Team All Conference by a vote of the conference coaches.

Rookies of the Week

Alda Ribeiro, Adelphi (Fr., No. 1 singles, Del Ray Beach, Fla.) - Finished as runner up in the No. 1 singles flight tournament at Queens over the weekend, falling to Concordia's Druker in a three-set final. Was later named ECC Rookie of the Year and First Team All Conference by a vote of the conference coaches.

Laura Mocodeanu, Queens (Fr., No. 2 Singles, Poughkieepsie, N.Y.) - Helped guide Queens to the ECC team tourney title and later took the title at No. 2 in the flight tournament over the weekend, going 3-0 without dropping a set. She also teamed up to win the No. 2 doubles flight title with another 3-0 mark. Was later named First Team All Conference by a vote of the conference coaches.

ECC Notebook

ECC: Top seeded Queens captured its sixth consecutive team tournament title with a 5-2 victory over second seeded Concordia Thursday at Queens ... The women's tennis flight tournament was also a Queens affair with the host Lady Knights capturing five flight titles including No. 2, 3 and 4 singles and No. 2 and 3 doubles ... The ECC All Conference teams were also announced Sunday with Concordia's Somadi Druker winning Player of the Year, Adelphi's Alda Ribeiro earning Rookie honors, and Alan Nagel garnering Coach of the Year accolades.

Concordia: The Clippers lost 5-2 to the Queens College Knights in the ECC Women's Tennis Finals for the second straight season. Concordia qualified for the finals with a 5-0 victory over Adelphi on Wednesday. In the finals, sophomore Somadi Druker was victorious at #1 singles over Alyssa Morra 6-3, 6-0 and at #1 doubles with junior Celise Sesanker 9-7 over Morra and Jessie Franklin.

St. Thomas Aquinas: Won their 4th match in a row with an 8 - 1 victory over Caldwell. It was the 4th win this season over an opponent from the CACC.
