Player of the Week

Laura Mocodeanu, Queens (Fr., No. 2 singles, No. 2 doubles, Hyde park, N.Y. / FDR) - Posted identical 4-1 marks in singles and doubles guiding her team to a 4-1 week. Her 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 come-from-behind win against Concordia clinched the ECC regular season title. Her only losses of the week came against Division I Fordham. In her first three singles matches she won five of six sets at 6-0, and the other at 6-2.

Rookie of the Week

Maria Perevezentseva , Queens (Fr., Nos. 5 & 6 singles, No. 3 doubles, Moscow, Russia) - Posted a 4-0 mark in singles and 5-0 mark in doubles for the week, including wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles against Divison I Fordham. She posted a win at the fifth flight versus C.W. Post as well as singles wins at No. 6 against Georgian Court, Concordia and Fordham.

ECC Notebook

Queens
: Laura Mocodeanu, who was 4-1 in singles and 4-1 in doubles for the week, sealed the deal for Queens with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 come-from-behind win at #2 singles to clinch the ECC regular season title with a 7-2 win over Concordia. Her only losses of the week came against Division I Fordham. In her first three singles matches of the week she won five of six sets 6-0 and the other 6-2. Fellow Freshman Maria Perevezentseva was 4-0 in singles and 5-0 in doubles for the week, including wins at #6 singles and #3 doubles against Fordham. She teamed with Jen Merideth for that doubles victory. Merideth also won at #5 doubles against Fordham.

Adelphi: The Panthers are currently on a roll, having won three of their last four matches and four of the last six. Adelphi is also 4-2 in the conference with just one ECC match to play.

Dowling: The women's tennis team closed out conference play with two victories this week.  They claimed a 7-2 win over Molloy, dropping two decisions to defaults and then defeated CW Post 6-3.  Ashley Horishny, Jennifer Tripp, Eleni Speyer and Diane Kobasiuk each went undefeated in both doubles and singles play. 

New Haven: The Chargers were just 1-3 last week in team competition, and fall to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in ECC play.  Freshman Alison Mahony had the best week of any UNH player, posting a 3-1 individual record.  She defeated opponents from St. Joseph College, Concordia and Adelphi.  She also won her only doubles match last week.  UNH closes out its regular-season schedule this week.  The Chargers play at C.W. Post on Monday afternoon, and host their senior day match against Albertus Magnus on Tuesday.  The team will honor seniors Sarah Lefler and Caitlin Witucki at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.  They close out the regular season on Thursday at Saint Joseph College.

St. Thomas Aquinas: STAC went 1 - 2 for the week. They lost 6 - 3 to Adelphi on Tuesday, 9/25. Caroline Gizzi and Allison Reeg won in both singles and doubles for STAC.  On Thursday, 9/27 the women were shutout by Concordia, 9 - 0. The Lady Spartans rebounded on Saturday, 9/29 with a 7 - 2 victory over the CACC's Chestnut Hill College. The STAC women won 5 out of 6 singles matches and 2 out of 3 doubles matches on the day. 

Molloy: The Lady Lions went 0-4 for the week.  On September 24, Molloy dropped to Caldwell, 5-4 and on September 25, the Lady Lions fell, 7-2 to Dowling.   Molloy fell 9-0 to Queens College on September 27 and 9-0 to C.W. Post on September 28.
