Nine Named to Softball All-Region Squads

Nine softball standouts from the East Coast Conference have been All-Region selections. Seven were chosen to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) list, while eight were honored by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (DIICCA).

ECC Pitcher of the Year, Chelsea Hawks of Molloy, and ECC Co-Player of the Year, Morgan Lloyd of Mercy, were the only consensus First Team selections from the conference. Hawks helped lead Molloy to the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament by compiling a 19-11 record and a 1.70 earned run average. She has also struck out 238 hitters on the year, good for 11th in all of Division II.

Lloyd finished the year as the ECC's top hitter with a .436 batting average. She finished second in the league with 68 hits and also added 13 doubles, two homeruns, 29 runs batted in, and 28 runs scored on the year.

Joining Hawks and Lloyd on the NFCA First Team were Skania Lemus of Mercy and Milan Botte of Molloy. Both were also selected to the DIICCA Second Team.

Laura McLaughlin of NYIT and the other half of the ECC Co-Player of the Year duo, Julia Seader of LIU Post, were named to the Second Team by both publications.

Rounding out the selections are ToniMarie Valeriano of Queens, who was picked to the NFCA Second Team, and Mercy teammates, Cassidy Wootten and Destini Bullock, who were both DIICCA Second Team picks.
