ECC: In the most recent NFCA National Poll (5/7), C.W. Post was ranked No. 9, while Adelphi was receiving votes.

C.W. Post: C.W. Post (48-14) claimed its second straight Northeast Region title with a convincing 9-2 win over ECC opponent, New Haven.  In the process, the Pioneers eclipsed their program's season overall win record with 48 wins.  Sophomore centerfielder Melissa Medina was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, going 11 for 16 at the plate with a .688 batting average and scored seven runs while driving in one.  Senior pitcher Samantha Yodowitz went 4-0 and registered her 30th career shutout against Caldwell while keeping opponents to a .181 batting average in 28 innings pitched.  At the plate, Yodowitz batted .364 and got the game-winning hit on a fielder's choice against Le Moyne.  C.W. Post will face Emporia State in the first round of the Division II College World Series in Houston, Texas on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

New Haven: The Chargers' magical run at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships came to a close on Sunday, with UNH falling to eventual champion C.W. Post, 9-2.  UNH, which almost came back to defeat the Pioneers on the first day of the tournament, went on from that point to win four straight do-or-die elimination games to advance to the so-called "Sweet 16" on Sunday.  UNH, which entered the tournament as the eighth seed, eliminated in succession (5) Georgian Court, (6) Bryant, (4) Caldwell, and (2) Le Moyne.  Nicole Downs led the team at the Regional, batting .412 with four RBI's and three runs scored.  Jessica Medina hit .294, while Chelsea Harold batted .286.  On the pitching side, after losing on Wednesday, Breanne Gleason rebounded with four consecutive complete-game wins, including three shutouts, to help power the Chargers into the finale.  She struck out 38 batters in 33 1/3 innings overall, and allowed just one unearned score in her run of 28 consecutive innings over her four wins.  The NCAA appearance was the fifth in program history, and the first for second-year head coach Jen Starek.

Adelphi: Adelphi advanced to the third round of the NCAA DII Regionals before falling to Caldwell College, 6-4. The Panthers (41-21) finished the season with a new school DII record of 41 wins, breaking the previous record of 39 set in 2007. This marked the third straight NCAA appearance for Adelphi.
