Baden Player and Pitcher of the Week

Samanatha Yodowitz, C.W. Post (Sr., P, Suffern, NY / Suffern) - Named Most Valuable Player of the ECC Championships, guiding the Pioneers to the title. Went 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA, striking out 12 batters and allowing four earned runs on 15 hits in 21 innings. Opponents hit .197 against her. She also posted a .333 average at the plate. 

Baden Rookie of the Week

Courtney Garland, New Haven (Fr., 2B, E. Meadow, N.Y. / E. Meadow) - Helped the Chargers to a 2-2 mark at the ECC Championships. Had a three-run homer against Dowling in the first round and added three RBI and scored three runs. Added six put-outs and two assists in nine chances in the field.

ECC Notebook

ECC: In the most recent NFCA National Poll, C.W. Post was ranked No. 10, while Adelphi was receiving votes ... Four ECC programs earned bids to the NCAA Northeast Regional with C.W. Post taking the top seed. Adelphi is No. 3, while NYIT is No. 7 and New Haven is No. 8.

C.W. Post: The 10th-ranked Pioneers posted three victories in the ECC Tournament to claim the ECC Championship Title and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Northeast Regional, which they will be hosting and which they earned the top seed in, as was announced yesterday by the NCAA.  The Pioneers record this season now stands at 44-14.  Samantha Yodowitz earned all three victories in the ECC tournament, improving to 26-6 on the season, also batting .333 in the tournament.  Melissa Medina led the offense with a .545 average, notching six hits in 11 at-bats and scoring five runs.  The Pioneers will play eighth-seeded New Haven at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, in the opening round of NCAA Regionals. 

New Haven: The Chargers went 2-2 at the ECC Championships finishing up third and grabbing the eighth seed in the NCAA Northeast Regional.  UNH got a first round win over Dowling and followed it up with a three run victory over Adelphi. Losses to C.W. Post and Adelphi ended the Chargers ECC Championship run.  Breanne Gleason hit .467 for the week with three doubles and scoring six runs.  Jessica Medina led the team with five runs batted in and crossed the plate three times.  Nicole Downs and Courtney Garland both hit three-run home runs in the win over Dowling.  The Chargers now look to the NCAA Northeast Regional as they will face number one seed C.W. Post for the fourth time this season in the first round on Wednesday, May 7.

Dowling:
The Golden Lions season ended in a 2-3 loss to Bridgeport in the second round of the ECC Tournament.  Taras Wallace's selection of ECC Co-Player of the year is her second consecutive year for such an honor and becomes the first Golden Lion to win the award twice.

Mercy: The Mavericks final games at Briarcliffe were canceled. Mercy finished its season with a 9-30 record overall and was 2-18 within the conference. Freshman Chelsea Methot (Bristol, CT) led the Mavericks in many offensive categories, including average (.362), hits (42), runs (20), and RBI (18). She was also tied for the team lead with freshman Catherine Kowalski (Melville, NY) for home runs with three. Senior Jessica Madick (Tarzana, CA) batted .315 with two home runs and 13 RBI. Freshman Alicia Martin (Massapequa, NY) finished second on the team in extra base hits (10) and RBI (16). Sophomore Stephanie Pereyo (Southington, CT) pitched 17 complete games with two shutouts.
