ECC Men's Tennis Championship Set for April 21-22 at Queens

Central Islip, N.Y. - The brackets are set for the East Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship which will take place on Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22. The tournament will be held on the campus of Queens College in the indoor Queens Tennis Center.

Tournament action begins at 11:00 a.m. on Friday when top seed and ECC Regular Season Champion, Queens, takes on No. 4 seed, St. Thomas Aquinas. Queens clinched their first ECC Regular Season Championship since the 2012 season (also the last season they won the conference tournament) with a perfect 5-0 mark in conference play and a 12-5 overall record. The Knights also enter the tournament as the No. 47 ranked team in the nation in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II poll.

The Spartans are back in the tournament for the fourth time in five seasons looking for their first-ever ECC crown. St. Thomas Aquinas posted a 2-3 ECC record (10-7 overall) on the year. Queens was victorious in the two schools' regular season matchup, defeating the Spartans by a tally of 7-2.

No. 3 seed University of the District of Columbia and No. 2 seed NYIT will square off in the other semifinal at 2:00 p.m. NYIT, ranked No. 32 in the ITA poll are in search of their fifth straight ECC Championship and enter the tournament with a 4-1 ECC mark (10-4 overall). The Bears lone loss in conference play snapped a 29 match win streak against ECC opponents.

UDC comes in to championship play with a 3-2 ECC record (6-6 overall) to earn the No. 3 seed in the tournament for the third straight year. The Firebirds are in search of their first-ever ECC title.
