Player of the Week
Fabio Minami, Queens (Fr., #2 singles, #2 doubles, Sao Bernardo de Campo, Brazil) - Was 3-0 in both singles and doubles for the week. He posted a 6-0, 6-0 win vs. Bloomfield, a 6-2, 7-5 win vs. Mercy and a 6-1, 6-2 win against Dowling. His doubles wins were by scores of 8-0, 8-6 and 8-2.
Henning Ruenz, Concordia (So., Muelheim-Kaerlich, Germany, German School of Barcelona) - Went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles this week. Defeated Martin Kosut of St. John's University 6-2, 6-1 at #4 singles and won at #3 singles 6-1, 6-0 against Dowling. Also won both matches at #3 doubles.

ECC Notebook
ECC: In the most recent ITA Division II poll (4/2), Concordia was ranked No. 12 and Mercy was ranked No. 45 ... In the most recent East regional poll (3/31), Concordia was No. 1, Mercy was No. 4, Adelphi was No. 6, and Queens was No. 8 and Dowling was No. 9.
Concordia: The 12th ranked Clippers went 2-0 this past week. The Clippers defeated Division I St. John's University 4-3 and beat ECC for Dowling College 9-0. With the score tied 3-3, senior Kirill Azovtsev needed three sets to defeat Pavel Cerny at #5 singles to pull out the win for the Clippers. The Clippers will travel to STAC on Tuesday and will finish the week at Bloomsburg on Saturday and Binghamton on Sunday.
Mercy: The Mavericks (3-5, 3-2 ECC), No. 45 in
the latest national rankings, fell in their only match of the week
to Queens, 5-4. Mercy got singles wins from Zeki Tukel
(Istanbul, Turkey) at No. 1, Timon Prosper (Mardigras, St. Georges)
at No. 4, and Yusufcan Koksal (Ankara, Turkey) at No. 5. Tukel also
teamed with Carl Johnson (St. John, Antigua) for a win at No. 2
doubles. Mercy will play a pair of non-conference matches
this week, traveling to Millersville on Wednesday and Bryant on
Sunday.
Queens: Queens College added to their winning
streak by defeating Bloomfield (9-0), Mercy (5-4) and Dowling (7-2)
this past week. Against Bloomfield, Fabio Minami, David Burstein,
Taylor Crabill, Robby Scheuing and Ariel Nassim all won their
singles matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0 and Marcelo Kim bested his
opponent, 6-2, 6-2. QC also won all three doubles macthes, 8-1, 8-0
and 8-1. In their win over Mercy, Minami posted a 6-2, 7-5 win at
#2 singles, Burstein added a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #3 singles and
Ariel Nassim won 6-2, 6-0 at sixth singles as QC split the six
singles matches with Mercy. Robby Scheuing and Nassim also combined
for a 8-4 win at third doubles. Against Dowling, Scheuing posted a
6-0, 6-1 win and Nassim won, 6-0, 6-0 after the two paired up for a
8-1 win at third doubles earlier in the day. Fabio Minami and David
Burstein also continued their fine play as each won their singles
matches, 6-1, 6-2. The two also combined for an 8-2 victory at
second doubles. Taylor Crabill pitched in with a 6-0, 7-6 (8)
victory at 4th singles.
