David Burstein, Queens (Fr., #2 singles, #2 doubles, East Rockaway, N.Y. / Lynbrook) - Won at #2 singles 6-0, 6-2 and teamed with Fabio Minami to post an 8-1 win at #2 doubles against Farmingdale.
Rookie of the Week
Taylor Crabill, Queens (Fr., #4 singles,
#1 doubles, Forest Hills, N.Y. / St. Francis Prep) - Didn't lose a
game in his singles win over Farmingdale and won at #1 doubles,
8-3.
ECC Notebook
Concordia: The Clippers were idle this past
week. Concordia climbed two spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis
Association (ITA) Division II rankings to 12th in the country. The
Clippers will host the Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University on
Thursday before opening ECC play on Saturday against Queens
College.
Queens: The Knights whitewashed Farmingdale State, 9-0, in
Flushing in their only match of the week. The victory was Craig
Schwartz's first as Queens College Men's Tennis Coach. QC won all
six of their singles matches in straight sets. Taylor Crabill
posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles while Robby Scheuing
and Ariel Nassim lost just one game in winning at fifth and sixth
singles, respectively.
Mercy: The Mavericks have been idle since the ECC
Flight Championships in February. They will return to action
on Saturday, March 22, with their first ECC match versus St. Thomas
Aquinas College, before heading south to take on Florida Southern,
Rollins, and Lynn.
