Player of the Week

Keith Henderson, NYIT (Jr., A, Port Jeff Station, N.Y.) - Netted a game-high three goals, all in the second half as NYIT rallied from a 6-2 deficit in the third quarter to defeat No. 7 Mercyhurst 9-8 in overtime. The win kept the Bears undefeated on the season and clinched the ECC championship.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Mike Giordano, C.W. Post (Fr., Farmingdale, N.Y. / Farmingdale) - Earned his third win of the season with 12 saves in goal in a 9-8 victory over No. 8 Dowling.

Rookie of the Week

John Wood, C.W. Post (Fr., D, Marblehead, Mass. / Marblehead) - Helped hold off No. 8 Dowling's offense in the closing minutes of a 9-8 victory. On defense, Wood caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls.

ECC Notebook

ECC: In the most recent USILA Division II national top 10 poll (4/21), NYIT was No. 2, C.W. Post was No. 4, Adelphi was No. 6, Mercyhurst was No. 7, and Dowling was No. 8 ... In last week's NCAA (Central) Regional Poll (4/23), NYIT stood No. 1, Mercyhurst was No. 2, C.W. Post was No. 3, Dowling was No. 4 and Adelphi was No. 5. 

NYIT: Sophomore Austin Carino's only goal of the game gave the Bears a 9-8 win in overtime over Mercyhurst, completing a come-from-behind win that saw the Bears trail 6-2 in the third quarter. Junior Matt Messina netted two goals, including the game tying goal with 1:35 left in regulation, and assisted on Carino's game winning goal in overtime.

C.W. Post: Fourth-ranked C.W. Post defeated Dowling, 9-8, and remains in contention for an NCAA bid in the upcoming tournament.  Trailing 8-7, senior attacker Rob Renetta scored with 1:30 left to play that tied the game at 8-all while junior attacker Dave Loftus added the game-winner 30 seconds later.  The Pioneers have now won two straight games and will finish the regular season on Saturday, May 3 against Dominican. 

Mercyhurst: The No. 7 Mercyhurst Lakers men's lacrosse team dropped a heartbreaking 9-8 overtime loss Saturday to the No. 3 New York Institute of Technology Bears. Mike Thon, Mike Bartlett and Jordan Witt each added two goals apiece for the Lakers and goalkeeper Jason LaShomb tallied 14 saves. Mercyhurst falls to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the East Coast Conference. The Lakers held a 8-5 lead going into the fourth period but could not hold on as the Bears scored the final four goals of the contest. Mercyhurst was only able to clear 22 of its 37 attempts and NYIT capitalized on the Lakers' hardship with five of its goals. Bartlett led the Lakers with two goals and two assists while Thon added two goals and one assist. Witt tallied two goals and Tyler Burton and Trevor Rice each finished with one goal. Aaron Manzer and Ryan Arnold also contributed one assist each. The Mercyhurst Lakers will close out its home season against No.6 Adelphi Saturday. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

Molloy: The Lions finished their season this week with a 16-6 victory over Dominican College on April 26. Brian Tempone scored four goals and had an assist, while Keith Galante added three goals and an assist. Kevin Meekins and Chris Mills each had two goals apiece. Rob Humann and Tim Pressler combined for 11 saves.
