Dowling's DeMeo Named NCBWA East Region Pitcher of the Week

Bridgeport, Conn. - Senior right-hander Kyle DeMeo (Franklin Square, N.Y.), from Dowling College has been selected as this week’s East Region National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Pitcher of the Week for his outstanding play in games that took place from March 16 through 22, 2015.

DeMeo, the East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, went 2-0 last week picking up his first win with a six inning shutout performance against Dominican. He allowed just two hits while striking out nine. In his second start of the week, DeMeo tossed a complete-game against Bridgeport, surrendering just one earned run on three hits while striking out three. For the week, he finished with a 0.69 ERA, allowing one run on five hits with 12 K’s while holding opposing batters to just a .119 average in 13 innings.

The NCBWA East Region poll also continues to have two ECC schools listed. St. Thomas Aquinas comes in at No. 4 with a 5-4-1 record. Dowling is close behind at No. 6 with a 5-3 mark.
