Manchester, N.H. - The No. 6 seeded Golden Lions (31-18) dropped their opening round game against the No. 1 seeded Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University (39-12) 3-0.

In the second, a two out walk to Kyle DeMeo and a single by Andrew Abreu put runners on the corners for Dowling, but they could not push any across.

Four and a half scoreless innings followed before the Penmen added a run in the seventh on an RBI single to center from Brendan O'Brien that brought in Bryan Toland who reached on a DC fielding error earlier in the inning.

Abreu, Joseph Candela, and Taylor Bargiacchi each provided a hit for the Golden Lions.

Marc Rutledge threw complete game allowing three runs (one earned) on five hits.

SNHU's Flight went eight scoreless innings scattering just three hits while striking out 13.  Alex Powers picked up the save after striking out the side in the ninth.
