Bartolomei and Pellechia Earn NCBWA East Region Player of the Week Accolades

Bridgeport, Conn. - Junior, outfielder Carmine Pellechia of Molloy College (Staten Island, N.Y.) and junior, right-handed pitcher Matt Bartolomei of the University of Bridgeport (Stratford, Conn.) have been selected as the East Region National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played from April 18-April 24, 2011.

The East Coast Conference Player of the Week, Pellechia batted .500 with a home run and seven runs batted in a pair of games last week.  He also scored two runs and a slugging percentage of 1.000 and an on-base percentage of .500.  This is the second time this season that Carmine has earned NCBWA East Region Player of the Week accolades.

Bartolomei, the East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, was perfect out of the UB bullpen in four relief appearances last week pitching seven innings without allowing a run as he went 1-0 with two saves.  He permitted only four hits while striking out four and walking two and limiting the opposition to a minuscule batting average of .167 on the week.
