COLONIA, NJ – After facing off in the ECC Men's Basketball Championship Final earlier this afternoon, both #1/2 Daemen (27-0, 16-0 ECC) and St. Thomas Aquinas (23-9, 13-3 ECC) have been selected to play in the East Regional portion of the upcoming NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, as the the full 64-team NCAA Tournament bracket was revealed on Sunday evening in a selection show broadcast at NCAA.com. Seeded as the No. 1 team in the region, Daemen earned the ECC's automatic bid after winning its first ECC Championship title earlier this afternoon and will host the East Regional at Daemen University's Lumsden Gymnasium this upcoming weekend.
ECC Championship runner-up St. Thomas Aquinas has earned an at-large bid as the No. 5 seed.
The quarterfinals kick off this Saturday, March 15. No. 1 Daemen will host #8 Bridgeport (19-12), who won the CACC Championship earlier today. No. 5 St. Thomas Aquinas, who makes their 10th consecutive regional appearance, will face #4 Pace (24-7), who fell to Southern New Hampshire in the NE10 Championship Final on Saturday.
The regional champion advances to the Elite Eight, which begins at the Ford Center in Evansville, IN from March 25-29.
