ECC Cross Country Report - Week Four

Men's Runner of the Week

Owen White, Roberts Wesleyan
Graduate Student | Lockport, NY

White placed fourth in a field of 334 runners at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 4:55.1 average mile on his home course on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan, White turned in a collegiate-best 8k time of 24:26.8 to turn in the fastest Division II performance of the race, trailing only a trio of Division I runners from Cornell. With his performance, the reigning ECC individual champion led the Redhawks to a third-place team finish in a field of 25 squads. 


Men's Rookie of the Week

Trevor Heitkamp, Roberts Wesleyan
Freshman | Fort Recovery, OH

In just his second collegiate race, Heitkamp posted the top ECC freshman time – and fourth-fastest ECC overall time – at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 5:15.9 average mile, Heitkamp crossed the 8k race in 26:10.3 to place 43rd in a field of 334 runners to help the Redhawks to a third-place team finish in a field of 25 squads on their home course. 


Women's Runner of the Week

Rachel Horner-Richardson, Roberts Wesleyan
Junior | Cornish, NH

White placed 12th in a field of 255 runners at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 5:49.6 average mile on her home course on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan, Horner-Richardson turned in a collegiate-best 5k time of 18:06.1 to turn in the second-fastest Division II performance of the race, trailing only Adelphi’s Katherine Marsh (17:45.2). With her performance, the RWU junior led the Redhawks to a second-place team finish in a field of 22 squads, finishing runner-up to Division I Cornell. 


Women's Rookie of the Week

Paige Reeser, Roberts Wesleyan
Freshman | Denver, PA

In just her second collegiate race, Reeser posted the top ECC freshman time – and fifth-fastest ECC overall time – at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Running her home course for the first time in a competitive setting, Reeser averaged a 6:06.2 mile to cross her first collegiate 5k race in 18:57.9 for a 25th-place showing in a field of 334. Reeser was the top non-Division I freshman finisher in the race. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Zachary Hall, Roberts Wesleyan
Senior | Oakfield, NY

Hall placed 17th in a field of 334 runners, and eighth among non-Division I runners, at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 5:04.8 average mile on his home course on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan, the RWU senior turned in a collegiate-best 8k time of 25:15.1, the second-fastest ECC performance on the day. With his performance, Hall helped the Redhawks to a third-place team finish in a field of 25 squads. 

Ethan Keating, Daemen
Sophomore | Wooster, OH

Keating placed 49th in a field of 334 runners at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 5:18.3 average mile, the Wildcat sophomore crossed the finish line in a Daemen-leading and collegiate-best 8k time of 26:22.5 for the fifth-fastest ECC performance of the race. The sophomore shaved 31.6 seconds off his previous 8k PR of 26:54.1, set at the 2023 ECC Championships.

James Polisena, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Elmsford, NY

Polisena placed 10th in a field of 36 runners at the Shenandoah Hornet Harrier Invitational & Commonwealth Challenge on Saturday. Paced by a 6:05.7 average mile, the STAC senior crossed the 8k finish line in 30:17.9 to lead all Spartans. 

Henry Smith, D’Youville
Senior | Lockport, NY

Smith placed 34th in a field of 334 runners at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 5:13.3 average mile, the D’Youville senior crossed the finish line in a collegiate-best 8k time of 25:57.7 for the third-fastest ECC performance of the race. 

Wayne Stephenson, Staten Island
Senior | Trelawny, Jamaica

Stephenson placed fifth in a field of 88 runners at the Fred Pavlich Invitational on Saturday. His time of 28:33.2 in the 8k also marked the third time in which the senior has posted a top-20 time in CSI’s program history.

Women
Ciara Durcan, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Orangeburg, NY

Durcan crossed the 5k course in 21:08.5, good for seventh place in a field of 21 finishers at the Shenandoah Hornet Harrier Invitational & Commonwealth Challenge on Saturday. 

Courtney Merrill, Daemen
Graduate Student | Speedway, IN

Merrill placed 21st in a field of 334 runners at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 6:04.3 average mile, the Daemen graduate student crossed the finish line in a collegiate-best 5k time of 18:52.0 for the third-fastest ECC performance of the race, breaking her three-year PR across that distance by 14 seconds. 

Zoe Merryman, St. Thomas Aquinas
Sophomore | Mahwah, NJ

Merryman placed fourth in a field of 21 runners at the Shenandoah Hornet Harrier Invitational & Commonwealth Challenge on Saturday. Paced by a 6:39.0 average mile, the STAC sophomore crossed the 5k finish line in 20:39.8. 

Lydia Roselund, Roberts Wesleyan
Junior | Lockport, NY

Roselund placed 22nd in a field of 334 runners at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 6:04.7 average mile on her home course on the campus of Roberts Wesleyan, Rosalind turned in a collegiate-best 5k time of 18:53.1 to turn in the fourth-fastest ECC performance of the race and help the Redhawks to a second-place team finish in a field of 22 squads. 

Lainie Smith, D’Youville
Junior | Lancaster, NY

Smith placed 18th in a field of 255 runners at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 5:54.4 average mile, Smith turned in a collegiate-best 5k time of 18:21.3 to turn in the second-fastest ECC performance of the race and help the Saints to a 10th-place team finish in a field of 22 squads. That time shattered the previous school record, held by Smith, by over 20 seconds.
