ECC Cross Country Report - Week Two

Men's Runner of the Week

Owen White, Roberts Wesleyan
Graduate Student | Lockport, NY

ECC Preseason Runner of the Year White led Roberts Wesleyan in its first race of the season with a second-place overall finish in a field of 66 runners at the Daemen Alumni Invitational on Saturday. Paced by a 5:24.8 mile average, White clocked in at 26:54.8 for 8k, finishing just seven seconds iff the pace of Division I Niagara’s Braden York to lead Roberts Wesleyan to a first-place team finish in the field of Daemen, Le Moyne, Niagara, and Bryant & Stratton.


Men's Rookie of the Week

Jakob Zibbel, Roberts Wesleyan
Freshman | Bloomdale, OH

Zibbel led a pack of Roberts Wesleyan runners with a 13th-place finish in a field of 66 runners at the Daemen Alumni Invitational on Saturday. The RWU freshman was the third Roberts Wesleyan runner to cross the finish line, dropping an 8k time of 28:26.1 in his first collegiate race. 


Women's Runner of the Week

Courtney Merrill, Daemen
Graduate Student | Speedway, IN

Merrill led the Wildcats to a first-place team finish at the Daemen Alumni Invitational on Saturday, pacing the Wildcats with a 5k time of 19:10.6 to finish second individually in a field of 66. Paced by a 6:10.3 mile average, Merrill's time was just four seconds shy of her 5k PR, set at the 2021 ECC Championships.


Women's Rookie of the Week

Sienna Uebelhoer, D’Youville
Freshman | Elma, NY

Uebelhoer was the top ECC freshman finisher at the Daemen Alumni Invitational, placing 13th out of the field of 50 with a career-best 5k time of 20:10.8. The Daemen rookie helped the Saints to a third-place team finish. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men
Jon Moote, Daemen
Graduate Student | Wilson, NY

In a field of 66 runners, Moote paced the Wildcats with a sixth-place time of 27:24.3 to lead Daemen to a second-place team finish in a field of five at the Daemen Alumni Invitational 8k on Saturday. It marked the 18th time in Moote's 21 career races that he came across the line as Daemen's first finisher.

Zachary Hall, Roberts Wesleyan
Senior | Oakfield, NY

Hall was the second Roberts Wesleyan runner to cross the finish line at the Daemen Alumni Invitational on Saturday, turning in a fifth-place overall finish in the field of 66 runners with a time of 27:21.1 over the 8k course.

James Polisena, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Elmsford, NY

Polisena placed 12th overall in a field of 64 runners with an 8k time of 29:00.7 at the Jasper Fall Invite. 

Aiden Watson, Molloy
Senior | Levittown, NY

Watson placed 41st at the Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions, running an 8k time of 28:44.6.

Women
Ciara Durcan, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Orangeburg, NY

Durcan placed fourth overall in a field of 54 runners at the Jasper Fall Invite, recording a 6k time of 24:45.9.

Ayesha Jarrett, District of Columbia
Senior | St. Ann, Jamaica

Jarrett placed 10th in a field of 46 at the Hood Blazer Blitz, clocking a 4k time of 17:31.1.

Zoe Merryman, St. Thomas Aquinas
Sophomore | Mahwah, NJ

Merryman finished third overall in a field of 54 runners with a 6k time of 24:30.1 at the Jasper Fall Invite.

Lainie Smith, D’Youville
Junior | Lancaster, NY

Smith finished with a 5k time of 19:13.7 to place third at the Daemen Alumni Invitational and help the Saints to a third-place team finish.

Sabrina Spezia, Molloy
Junior | Centereach, NY

Spezia led the Lions at the Br. John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions, placing 42nd with a 5k time of 20:36.2 in a field of nearly exclusively Division I runners.
