ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Two

Offensive Player of the Week

Ancksu Dixon, Mercy
Junior | Forward | Freeport, NY

Dixon recorded a team-high four goals and 10 points as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The junior opened the week with a goal and two assists in the Mavericks' 3-1 win over Georgian Court on Wednesday. The forward ended the week with a career-high three goals in just 49 minutes of action, including the game-winning goal, in Mercy's 4-0 win over Felician on Saturday. Dixon currently leads the ECC in goals (5) and points (12). 


Defensive Player of the Week

Samantha Hines-Hirsch, Queens
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Plainview, NY

Hines-Hirsch helped the Knights to a 2-0 week. Over the two games, Hines-Hirsch earned her first two career wins as she recorded seven saves with one goal allowed to go with a goals against average of 0.56. With the Knights leading 2-1 against Caldwell on Wednesday evening, the Queens rookie made two key saves in the final five minutes to lead the Knights to their first win of the year and first victory over the Cougars since 2011. Against Post on Saturday afternoon, Hines-Hirsch recorded four saves in 70 minutes of action to help Queens improve to 2-2.


Rookie of the Week

Jana Strait, Molloy
Freshman | Forward | Millersburg, PA

Strait was a focal point of the Molloy offense in a 1-1 week, being part of every goal the Lions scored with her five-point week. The freshman collected her first career points against Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday, assisting on the first goal and netting the game winner in the final 10 minutes. On Saturday, she collected two additional assists on both goals the Lions scored.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Anneliese Becker, Mercy
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Stafford, VA

Becker went 2-0 in goal with four saves, an .800 save percentage, one shutout, and a 0.50 goals-against average. The freshman opened the week with two saves and just one goal allowed to earn the win in Mercy's 3-1 victory over Georgian Court on Wednesday. Becker ended the week with two saves to record her first collegiate shutout in the Mavericks' 4-0 win over Felician on Saturday. 

Ella Brower, Mercy
Junior | Forward | Huntington Station, NY

Brower had a career-high three assists in Mercy's 4-0 win over Felician on Saturday. 

Ashley Kieblesz, Queens
Sophomore | Midfielder | Middle Village, NY

In the 2-1 comeback victory over Caldwell on Wednesday evening, Kieblesz scored her first career goal and game-winner in a Knights uniform. In the 84th minute of play, Kieblesz connected with Lluvy Lewis as the Middle Village, NY native sent a left-footed shot from 18 yards out into the top right corner to score the game-winner for Queens’ first win of the year.

Lluvy Lewis, Queens
Sophomore | Defender | Valley Stream, NY

In a 2-0 week for the Knights, Lewis led the way for the women’s soccer team with a team-high three-point week. In the 2-1 comeback victory over Caldwell on Wednesday evening, Lewis tallied her second assist of her career as she connected with Ashley Kieblesz to score the game-winner over the Cougars. To end the week on a strong note, Lewis worked off of a pass from Jenna Rosenberger to notch her second career goal, blasting a 20-yard shot over Post’s goalkeeper and into the bottom left corner as Queens earned the 2-1 victory on Sunday.

Hailey Metzger, Mercy
Freshman | Forward | Levittown, NY

Metzger had a goal and two assists in two games as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The freshman opened the week with her first career goal and an assist in the Mavericks' 3-1 win over Georgian Court on Wednesday. Metzger ended the week with an assist in Mercy's 4-0 win over Felician on Saturday.
