COLONIA, N.J. – Continuing to prioritize the health and well-being of its student-athletes, the East Coast Conference has renewed its partnership with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health (USCAH), to provide comprehensive athletic healthcare consultation, policy and procedure development, and educational resources to the league’s nine member institutions.
The USCAH staff is comprised of sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, university athletic administrators and former student-athletes with nearly 300 years of experience in athletics healthcare and administration. Founded in 2017, USCAH is committed to the health, safety and welfare of athletes at all levels and is dedicated to the mission of collaborating with every athletic organization to inspire and ensure athlete health and safety is a priority.
"The U.S. Council for Athletes' Health is excited to continue our partnership with the East Coast Conference," said James Borchers, CEO and President of the U.S. Council for Athletes' Health. "Under the leadership of their new commissioner, Jessica Grasso, and with the dedication of all the conference's outstanding institutions, we are committed to enhancing athlete health, safety, and well-being. We are proud to work with the East Coast Conference to prioritize the student-athlete experience and look forward to continuing our support for all members now and in the future."
“With student-athlete health, safety and well-being being a top priority at the East Coast Conference, we value the partnership with the U.S. Council for Athletes’ Health to provide educational resources and support to our sports medicine personnel on each of our campuses,” said ECC Commissioner Jessica Grasso.
USCAH will collaborate with ECC leadership staff on conference-wide athletic medicine, health, and safety initiatives, especially as it relates to athletic health and safety policy and procedure planning, and implementations at member schools and at ECC sponsored events. USCAH will also collaborate with the ECC sports medicine committee and partner with ECC on presentations and educational programming annually.
"USCAH's commitment to putting student-athlete health and safety first and foremost is directly in line with what ECC athletic trainers do everyday," said Jeff Sage, Daemen University's Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine and Performance. "As the athletics healthcare space continues to evolve, USCAH serves as a collaborative resource and offers timely and meaningful continuing education content for our member athletic trainers and athletics health care administrators. I value the ECC's relationship with USCAH as it provides a positive impact on our student-athlete population as well as the dedicated athletic trainers that care for them."
The partnership also includes access to the Athletic Healthcare Administrator Association (AHAA) for East Coast Conference athletic trainers, team physicians and administrators as well as important resources, educational opportunities, and a private discussion forum for all members. USCAH will manage all aspects of the AHAA including staff, technology, events, and programming.
