Roberts Wesleyan's Brynn King Set to Compete in 2024 Olympics Pole Vault Qualification Round on Monday Morning

COLONIA, N.J. – The biggest stage.

Roberts Wesleyan standout pole vaulter Brynn King is set to compete in the 2024 Olympics Women's Pole Vault Qualification Round on Monday, August 5 at 4:40 AM ET. Streaming will be available on Peacock or NBCOlympics.com.

"I'm excited to compete at this level," said King on the morning of her travel day to Paris. "I haven't competed at the international level yet. These are the best of the best girls in the world, so it'll be really exciting to be on the track with them, learn from them, and learn that competive mindset and what it takes to be at the next level. Off the track, I'm really excited to be a part of all the Olympic traditions. I've never been to watch an Olympic Games, so I'm really excited to get to see all the tradition that goes into this meet."

King placed third at the U.S. Olympic Trials at the University of Oregon's historic Hayward Field back on June 30 to earn a spot on Team USA alongside fellow pole vaulters Bridget Williams (Virginia '20) and Katie Moon (Ashland 2013), the latter of whom won gold in 2020. In dramatic fashion, King cleared a career-best 4.73 meters (15-feet, 6 1/4-inches) on her first attempt to meet the Olympic standard. Her spot on the team was then secured when 2016 Olympic silver medalist Sandi Morris missed all three of her attempts at 4.73 meters.

King joins her coach, Roberts Wesleyan pole vault coordinator Jenn Suhr, as an Olympian. Suhr, a 2004 Roberts graduate, is a three-time Olympian who won gold in 2012 and silver in 2008.

The event finals are set for Wednesday, August 7 at 1:00 PM ET.
