EUGENE, Ore. – Roberts Wesleyan University's Brynn King has advanced to the finals of the women's pole vault competition at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
King, the NCAA Division II indoor and outdoor champion, cleared her first attempt at 4.35 meters (14-feet, 3 1/4 -inches) at the University of Oregon's historic Hayward Field and is one of 13 competitors to move on to Sunday's final round.
The top three finishers on Sunday will earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic team for the Paris Olympics.
King, a native of The Woodlands, Texas, missed three attempts at 4.5 meters (14-9) but ranked high enough in the field of 24 to move forward. She is coached by Roberts graduate Jenn Suhr '04, a three-time Olympian and the 2012 gold medalist.
Sunday's finals begin at 6:15 p.m. and will be televised by NBC and Peacock.
