WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – For the third consecutive season, the Molloy University athletic department has been awarded the ECC Community Cup. The honor is presented to the institution that tallies the greatest number of community service and community engagement hours per student-athlete.
The Lions logged 2,558 hours of community service, good for 7.7 hours per student-athlete.
Molloy student-athletes lent their time to such causes as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Autism Speaks, Molloy Opportunity for Successful Transition (a program for college-aged individuals with developmental disabilities), SIBSPlace (supporting children with a sibling or parent with traumatic illnesses), and Midnight Runs (supplying meals to the homeless in New York City) and volunteered with the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Team IMPACT, MLK Center of Rockville Centre, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Dominican Sisters of Amityville, and Long Island Crisis Center.
The award comes with a $500 grant from the ECC to be used towards community efforts during the 2024-25 season.
