ECC Outdoor Track and Field Report - Week Three

Men's Track Athlete of the Week

Emmanouil Paravalos, Molloy
Freshman | Bohemia, N.Y.

Paravalos won two events and was part of a new Molloy record, helping the Lions to win the Ramapo College Invitational. The rookie won the 400m (50.37) before setting a school record as part of the 4x100-meter relay (42.58) and winning the 4x400-meter relay (3:24.56). Paravalos’ 400m time leads the conference while both of those relays also lead the conference. 


Men's Field Athlete of the Week

Adam Lenn, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | Throws | Thiells, N.Y.

Lenn won the discus (47.59m) and placed second in the shot put (14.57m) at the Ramapo College Invitational. Both performances rank third in the ECC this spring. 


Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Kylee Odell, Roberts Wesleyan
Senior | Middle Distance | Panama, N.Y.

Odell turned in a pair of ECC-leading performances in middle distance events at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational on Saturday. The Roberts Wesleyan senior won the 1500m in a field of 70, crossing in 4:39.34, which leads the ECC by over 15 seconds. The senior also took fifth in the 800m (2:20.05), which leads the ECC by nearly a second. Her 1500m time ranks second in the NCAA East Region, followed by her 800m time in fifth. 


Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Brynn King, Roberts Wesleyan
Graduate Student | Pole Vault | The Woodlands, Texas

King won the women's elite pole vault at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in record-breaking fashion, clearing 4.68m (15’ 4 1/4”) to break her own NCAA Division II outdoor record (previously 4.60m/15’ 1”) while establishing new personal and meet standards for the university division. The Roberts Wesleyan standout owns the all-time Division II records in both the indoor and outdoor pole vault. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Men's
Jayden Bennermon, St. Thomas Aquinas 
Senior | Jumps | Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

Bennermon placed second in the triple jump field of 11 (14.02m) and anchored the third-place 4x100m relay (43.10) at the Ramapo College Invitational; that relay ranks third in the ECC this spring. 

Jackson Doran, Roberts Wesleyan
Junior | Middle Distance | Lockport, N.Y.

Jackson Doran won the 1500m (ECC-leading 3:54.27) at the Geneseo Early Season Invitational on Saturday. Doran was also a member of the winning 4x400m relay team that crossed the line in 3:26.49. 

Jurrel Hall, Molloy
Freshman | Jumps | West Hempstead, N.Y.

Hall won the triple jump at the Ramapo College Invitational, setting a Molloy record at 14.36m, which ranks second in the ECC this season. The Lions would go on to place first in the meet.

Emmanuel Mena Jimenez, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Throws | West Haverstraw, N.Y.

Mena Jimenez won the hammer throw (52.55m) in a field of 16 and placed third in the discus (44.46m) field of 19 at the Ramapo College Invitational.

Jon Moote, Daemen
Senior | Distance | Wilson, N.Y.

Moote posted the third-fastest time in Daemen program history in the 1500m at the Geneseo Early Season Invite, clocking in at 4:07.15 to place 12th out of 86 runners. 

Vincent Ohenhen, Staten Island
Junior | Sprints | Staten Island, N.Y.

Ohenhen broke a CSI program record this past week with his 100m dash time of 10.59, which ranked second in a prelims field of 51 at the Towson Invitational and currently tops the conference by nearly .2 seconds. The CSI junior went on to place fourth in the finals.

Eric Palencia, Molloy
Junior | Greenport, N.Y.

Palencia won the 10k race at the Ramapo Invite, setting a Molloy record with a time of 32:49.55. The Lions would go on to win the meet.

Kadeem Patterson, Queens
Freshman | Bronx, N.Y.

Competing in The Big Hurt, Patterson placed third in the 200m field of 26 (22.12) and eighth in the 100m field of 33 (11.44). With his 200m performance, the freshman broke Queens’ outdoor record in the event, originally set by Michael Camacho in 2016 (22.19), and currently ranks second in the ECC (and first among all freshmen). 

Women's
Tima Abdellatif, Daemen
Graduate Student | Throws | Grand Island, N.Y.

Abdellatif picked up where she left off last spring as she posted a school-record mark of 42.35m in the hammer throw at the Geneseo Early Season Invite. Breaking her own school record that she set at the ECC Championships last year, the Daemen graduate student placed sixth out of 41 entrants and owns the second-best mark in the ECC this spring. 

Jenna Capolupo, D’Youville
Freshman | Jumps | Wheatfield, N.Y.

Capolupo won the 100m in a field of 38 (12.48) and placed third in the 200m field of 46 (26.34) at the Hamilton Continental Invitational. Her 100m time ranks second and 200m time ranks third in the ECC and both stand as the fastest by a rookie this season. 

Sofia Dulisova, Staten Island
Freshman | Staten Island, N.Y.

Dulisova placed third in the high jump at the Towson Invitational with a height of 1.55m; that height was the best in the conference this week and is second overall in the event this season. The CSI freshman also contributed to a record-setting 4x100 relay for the CSI women as that unit posted a program-record time of 54.59.

Nicole Gysin, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Jumps | Waldwick, N.J.

Gysin placed third in the 100m hurdles (16.78), eighth in the triple jump (10.15m), and ninth in the high jump (1.42m) at the Ramapo College Invitational. The STAC senior’s 100m hurdles and triple jump performances rank sixth and seventh in the ECC, respectively. 

Iyanna Jackson, District of Columbia
Junior |  Kingston, Jamaica

Jackson placed first among all Division II runners in the 200m at the Towson Invitational, crossing in an ECC-leading 25.41 en route to a ninth-place overall finish in the field of 62. That performance ranks second in the NCAA East Region, only .44 seconds behind Felician’s Imani Fitzpatrick. 

Emmanuela Katou Kouami, District of Columbia
Sophomore | Throws | Bronx, N.Y.

Kouami threw an ECC-leading mark of 44.46m in the hammer throw to place seventh in a field of 27 at the Towson Invitational. She went on to hit a discus mark of 40.12m, which ranks second in the ECC, to place sixth in a field of 28. 

Lainie Smith, D’Youville
Sophomore | Distance | Lancaster, N.Y.

Smith took home a first-place finish and set a new personal record in the 5000m at the Hamilton Continental Invitational with a time of 18:38.71, which ranks third in the ECC. 

Emily Strunk, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | Throws | Stroudsburg, Pa.

In her first collegiate track and field meet as a Spartan, Strunk won the shot put (ECC-leading 12.82m), which also set a new school record, and placed fourth in the discus (35.71m) at the Ramapo College Invitational.
