Jorsixt Jimenez, Queens
Sophomore | Outfielder | Flushing, N.Y.
Starting all five games on the week, Jimenez led the way batting a team-high .545 BA, .864 SLG %, and .600 OB% with 12 hits, one double, two home runs, a team-high nine RBI, eight runs scored to go with three walks, one stole base and 19 total bases. The sophomore recorded four multi-hit games with a season-best 4-for-6 AB with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in game one on Sunday. In the nightcap, the right fielder went 2-for-3 at the plate with one home run, and a season-high four RBI and three runs scored as Queens earned a 14-3 game two victory and earned a tough 2-2 series split. The sophomore leads the Knights with seven multi-hit RBI games to with six multi-hit games.
Pitcher of the Week
Billy Morris, D’Youville
Sophomore | Infielder/Pitcher | Lancaster, N.Y.
In two starts, Morris threw 12 innings and struck out 16 while only allowing four earned runs. In D'Youville's 5-1 win over Virginia State on Wednesday, he threw seven innings and struck out 10 while only allowing one run on three hits.
Rookie of the Week
Joe Burriesci, Molloy
Freshman | Outfield | Farmingdale, N.Y.
Burriesci was moved up to the second spot in the lineup and immediately found success. The freshman collected a hit in all five games this week, including three multi-hit performances highlighted by a 3-for-3, two runs scored, and two-RBI game against Dominican on Saturday (Mar. 16). To cap the week Burriesci hit .474 (9-for-19), scored fives times, drove in four runs, and swiped two bases while getting on base at a .522 clip.
ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Andrew Alameda, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | Pitcher | Farmingdale, N.Y.
Alameda recorded a complete-game victory over New Haven last weekend. In the 4-1 triumph over the Chargers, the junior right-handed pitcher threw seven innings and only allowed a hit and a run, while walking three and striking out six.
Zach Ashline, Mercy
Sophomore | Outfield | Colonie, N.Y.
Ashline hit .313 (5-for-16) with a team-high two home runs and nine RBI as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The sophomore opened the week going 1-for-5 with an RBI in Mercy's win at Bridgeport on Friday. Ashline then went 1-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run and a game-high four RBI in the Mavericks' game one win over Bridgeport on Saturday. The sophomore ended the week going 3-for-5 with a home run and game-high four RBI in Mercy's win over Bridgeport on Sunday.
Alex Dzimian, D’Youville
Senior | Infielder/DH | Lakeview, N.Y.
Dzimian went 10-for-24 with four RBI in six games, including a 3-for-4 and one RBI performance on Friday. He also had multi-hit games on Wednesday and Saturday.
Joseph Gonzalez, Mercy
Junior | Shortstop | Monroe, N.Y.
Gonzalez hit a team-high .538 (7-for-13) with four RBI, five runs and three stolen bases as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The shortstop opened the week going 4-for-4 with a game-high three RBI in Mercy's win at Bridgeport on Friday. The junior then went 3-for-4 with three runs in Mercy's game one win over Bridgeport on Saturday. Gonzalez ended the week with a run scored and an RBI in the Mavericks' win over Bridgeport on Sunday.
Ryan Hynes, Molloy
Senior | Pitcher | Stony Brook, N.Y.
Hynes delivered his second straight quality start, taking the mound against Dominican on Saturday (Mar. 16). The left-hander tossed a complete game allowing one run on seven hits and struck out six to improve to 3-0 on the campaign.
Gerard Santos, Staten Island
Junior | Pitcher | Queens, N.Y.
Santos earned a complete game shutout victory against Dominican University on Friday. In seven innings, he allowed just 4 hits and struck out 2. He is now 2-0 on the season with a conference-leading 0.45 ERA.
Nevin Scaperotti, Mercy
Freshman | Pitcher/Infielder | Stormville, N.Y.
Scaperotti pitched six innings with one earned run and five hits allowed with four strikeouts to earn the win over Bridgeport on Friday. The freshman also went 2-for-7 during the week at the plate with two RBI.
