King, Anyika, Pierre, Mena Jimenez Represent ECC at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Headlined by Roberts Wesleyan's Brynn King's national title in the pole vault, four ECC standouts represented the conference at the 2024 NCAA indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Robert W. Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State University this weekend. On the men's side, Holy Family's Kouto Anyika and Nishorn Pierre joined King in earning All-America recognition while St. Thomas Aquinas' Emmanuel Mena Jimenez also competed on the national stage.

King broke her own NCAA Division II record for the eighth time this season, clearing 4.65m (15' 3") on Friday to win the NCAA's national pole vault title. She becomes the second student-athlete in East Coast Conference history to claim an individual national title, joining Georgian Court's Tiffany Okieme, who claimed the indoor shot put title in 2014. The complete release on King's impressive feat can be found here

Anyika qualified for the 400m final with the fastest time amongst 16 entries on Friday, crossing in 47.01 to break his own school record with what was the fourth-best time in Division II all season at that point. In the final, the sophomore would cross in 52.04 for ninth overall.

Pierre earned his third All-America honor, previously doing so in the high jump at the 2022 Outdoor and 2023 Indoor Championships, with a ninth-place finish. After clearing his first attempt at both 2.03m and 2.08m, the junior came through on his final attempt at 2.13m to secure the solo ninth performance.

In his second NCAA Division II National Championship meet (Outdoor 2023), Mena Jimenez placed 15th in the weight throw with a toss of 18.12m.
