Player of the Week
Jeremy Glinski, D’Youville
Graduate Student | Catcher | Sloan, N.Y.
On the week, Glinski went 6-for-9 (.667) at the plate with five walks, blasted three doubles and a home run, and drove in three runs while scoring four times. Against No. 7 Millersville, Glinski had three hits, including a pair of doubles. Against No. 21 West Chester, Glinski had one hit, including the home run which scored two batters, while drawing two walks. Gilinski led all ECC Player of the Week nominees with a 1.333 slugging percentage and .800 on base percentage.
Pitcher of the Week
John Archer, St. Thomas Aquinas
Graduate Student | Pitcher | Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
Archer had a sensational season debut for the Spartans as the right-handed pitcher tossed seven shutout innings while only allowing five hits and striking out a career-high nine batters in an 11-2 win over Franklin Pierce, who received votes in the NCBWA National Poll and was ranked No. 3 in the most recent NCBWA East Region Poll, last weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Rookie of the Week
Peter Nenadich III, Queens
Freshman | Pitcher | Bayside, N.Y.
Nenadich III made his debut in grand style as he was called on to pitch in relief against regionally-ranked No. 4 Southern New Hampshire in a scoreless game. The Queens freshman pitched 4.0 innings allowing just four hits, one earned run, and two walks and struck out seven batters to earn his first career win. After a shaky start to his outing in the sixth inning, Nenadich III would settle in as he went on to limit the Penmen to one walk and a hit in the final three innings, including two straight clean innings to end the game as Queens earned a 4-1 victory to open the year and defeat SNHU for the first time in program history.
ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Charlie Cucchiara, Molloy
Graduate Student | Pitcher | East Meadow, N.Y.
Cucchiara moved to 2-0 on the campaign this week picking up a win against former ECC foe Bridgeport on Friday. Cucchiara tossed five innings allowing one run, on two hits, and struck out four.
Justin Glennerster, Mercy
Graduate Student | Catcher | Staten Island, N.Y.
Glennerster hit a team-high .533 (8-for-15) with three RBI, a home run, a double, and two runs scored in five games this week. Mercy graduate student opened the week going 1-for-2 with an RBI against nationally-ranked No. 5 UNC Pembroke on Tuesday and went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored against Felician on Friday. Glennerster then went 5-for-7 with an RBI and a run scored in the Mavericks’ doubleheader split against Adelphi on Saturday.
Jorsixt Jimenez, Queens
Sophomore | Outfielder | Flushing, N.Y.
Jimenez picked up right where he left off in 2023 as he recorded a four-game hitting streak with one multi-hit game and two multi-RBI games in the Knights’ 4-0 start to the year. Hitting .357 over the course of four games, Jimenez recorded five hits, one double, five RBI, and two runs scored to go with two earned walks.
Chris Polemeni, Staten Island
Sophomore | Outfielder/Pitcher | Staten Island, N.Y.
Polemeni is off to a strong start in his first season with the Dolphins as he finished the week 7-for-14 at the plate through the team's first four games. The CSI outfielder connected on his first home run to help the Dolphins secure their first win of the season against Southern New Hampshire this past weekend.
Joseph Scamardella, St. Thomas Aquinas
Redshirt Junior | Infielder | Staten Island, N.Y.
Scamardella had a game-tying, bases-clearing triple and then followed it up with a three-run homer to give the Spartans the lead in a 6-4 victory over Franklin Pierce last weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The redshirt junior infielder finished the game going 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run, a triple, six RBI, and a run scored.
Jack Sullivan, Mercy
Junior | Pitcher | Orlando, Fla.
Sullivan went 1-0 on the mound with a 0.00 ERA and three strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched in two appearances. The junior opened the week with a scoreless inning pitched in his first start as a Maverick against No. 5 UNC Pembroke on Tuesday. The pitcher ended the week with 3.1 scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts to earn the win against Adelphi on Saturday.
Matt Yip, Molloy
Senior | Catcher | Williston Park, N.Y.
Yip provided the power in the heart of the Molloy lineup this past weekend in Myrtle Beach. The senior catcher collected an RBI in three of the four contests on the week, including a career day in which he blasted two home runs and drove in five RBI in the 16-12 win over Chestnut Hill. To cap the week, Yip hit .400 (4-for-10), slugged at a clip of 1.100, and led all Player of the Week nominees in RBI (six), runs scored (five) and home runs (two).
