ECC Men's Basketball Report - Week Six

Player of the Week

Ethan Robertson, Mercy
Freshman | F | Boston, MA

Robertson averaged a team-high 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game with 2.0 assists per game as Mercy went 2-2 on the week. The freshman opened the week with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting with seven rebounds and two blocks against Franklin Pierce on Monday. The forward then had 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting with three rebounds and four assists in the 82-79 win over Holy Family on Wednesday. Robertson posted a double-double by way of 11 points and 12 rebounds in the 65-60 win over D'Youville on Friday that moved Mercy to 2-0 in ECC play for the first time. The freshman ended the week with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting with four rebounds against No. 6/No. 7 Daemen on Sunday. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Arnardo Camacho, Roberts Wesleyan
Junior | G | Bronx, NY

Camacho had another strong defensive weekend as Roberts Wesleyan split a pair of ECC games at home. Against Queens, Camacho had six rebounds (all defensive) and two blocks. In the win over Molloy on Sunday, Camacho recorded a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds (11 defensive), and 11 assists alongside four steals and a block. For the weekend, Camacho totaled 18 rebounds, 17 of which were defensive. 


Rookie of the Week

ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Nasan Ayala, Queens
Senior | G | Lefrak City, NY

Ayala averaged 23.0 points on 70.0 percent shooting from the field to go with 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Knights. The senior began the week recording a career-best 24 points to go with five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks against Caldwell in non-conference play on Tuesday evening. In the ECC victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Friday evening, Ayala recorded his third straight 20-point game with 22 points to go with eight rebounds, three steals, and three assists as Queens improved to 2-0 in conference play.

Benjamin Bill, Daemen
Redshirt Sophomore | C | Hamburg, NY

Bill totaled 25 points, six blocks, seven assists, and 14 rebounds over two days of action. Against St. Thomas Aquinas, Bill notched a season-high four blocks while adding in six points, eight rebounds, and a steal in Daemen's 84-55 win. The Daemen center continued his hot run against Mercy, notching 19 points (9-of-10), two blocks, four assists, and six rebounds in the Wildcats’ 106-78 victory.

Malik Brooks, Roberts Wesleyan
Graduate Student | G | Lockport, NY

Brooks knocked down a career-high 36 points in Friday’s loss to Queens with four assists, four steals, and five rebounds.

Tevin Curtis, District of Columbia
Senior | G | Baltimore, MD

Curtis posted a career- and game-high 25 points, shooting 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and 58.8 percent from the field in the Firebirds’ loss to Staten Island. He also recorded a game-high five assists and five steals and pulled down four rebounds.

Trey Kleitz, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | G | East Aurora, NY

Kleitz had his career-best game against Molloy to cap a solid weekend. The three-point shooting specialist had six points (with two three-pointers) and two assists in just 11 minutes against Queens and then recorded a career-high 30 points with 9-for-13 shooting from three-point range with an assist and four steals against Molloy as he led a comeback win for the Redhawks.

Jaden Pena, Queens
Junior | F | Brooklyn, NY

Pena averaged 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Knights. The junior recorded seven points, six rebounds, and three steals against Caldwell in non-conference play on Tuesday evening. In the ECC victory over Roberts Wesleyan on Friday evening, Pena recorded his second straight double-double in conference play with 16 points and 13 rebounds (eight defensive) as Queens improved to 2-0 in conference play.

Troy'reon Ramos, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | G | Pine Bluff, AR

Ramos averaged 21.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game over two contests last week for STAC. The junior guard tallied 14 points, grabbed two rebounds, and dished out three assists in 27 minutes in an 84-55 loss to Daemen before recording 29 points, three rebounds, and an assist in 27 minutes in a 96-83 win over D'Youville. Ramos shot 65.3 percent (17-of-26) from the field, 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from beyond the arc and 100.0 percent (2-of-2) from the charity stripe.

Nathan Robertson, Mercy
Freshman | G | Boston, MA

Robertson averaged 17.0 points per game with 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as Mercy went 2-2 on the week. The freshman opened the week with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting with five rebounds against Franklin Pierce on Monday. The guard then had 21 points and nine rebounds in the win over Holy Family on Wednesday. Robertson then had 13 points and eight rebounds in the win over D'Youville on Friday that moved Mercy to 2-0 in ECC play for first time. The freshman ended the week with 22 points with seven assists at No. 6/7 Daemen on Sunday. 

Payton Shumpert, Molloy
Junior | G | Syracuse, NY

Shumpert hit a career-high 30 points in Molloy's contest at Roberts Wesleyan. The junior was hot from three-point range, sinking a career-high eight treys.
