ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY – All three goals in Sunday’s ECC Women’s Soccer Championship Semifinal between No. 1 Molloy and No. 4 Mercy were determined by penalty kicks, and the Lions came out on top in a 2-1 victory over the Mavericks at the RVC Sports Complex. Molloy (11-4-2, 7-0 ECC) now advances to their fifth consecutive ECC Final and will look to defend its title when hosting No. 2 Daemen this upcoming Saturday, November 16 at noon.
Mercy (10-8-2, 4-3 ECC) struck first when All-ECC Third Team midfielder Elizabeth Bowles sent a perfect through ball up to forward Amiah Washington. ECC Goalkeeper of the Year Elyse Muñoz had one play in front of her to stop Washington, and Washington took the foul in the box before calmly converting her first PK of the year to put the Mavs up in the 30th minute.
The Mavs would keep that lead through the halftime break, before All-ECC First Team midfielder Isabella Muro challenged for possession inside the box and got fouled for her first PK opportunity of the year; Muro buried the equalizer in the 49th minute.
Just under seven minutes later, All-ECC Second Team forward Mikaela Barriga earned her own PK and gave the Lions their first lead of the game, 2-1, in the 56th minute.
After allowing the first goal, ECC Goalkeeper of the Year Elyse Muñoz settled in and made eight saves in the full 90:00.

AMHERST, NY – The Wildcats scored three goals in the final 20 minutes and All-ECC Second Team goalkeeper Becca Schultz made nine saves as No. 2 Daemen handled No. 3 Queens, 4-1, in the ECC Women’s Soccer Championship Semifinals at Karrer Field on Sunday afternoon. The ‘Cats (9-8, 6-1 ECC) now advance to their second straight ECC Final and will face No. 1 Molloy at the RVC Sports Complex in Rockville, NY this upcoming Saturday, November 16 at noon.
Daemen struck first in the 38th minute, when forward Kaitlyn Wright took advantage of a Queens defensive miscue and tucked away the first goal of the game.
That goal, along with Schultz’s six first-half saves, sent the Wildcats into halftime with a 1-0 edge.
Queens (10-7-1, 4-3 ECC) equalized in the 55th minute on a score by forward Jenna Rosenberger, but ECC Offensive Player of the Year Kylie Miranto showed composure on the wing en route to her 12th goal of the year in the 71st minute.
Daemen tacked on two more goals late. Miranto first connected with Wright for Wright’s second goal of the game in the 79th minute to extend Daemen’s lead by two, 3-1. On that scoring play, Queens dropped down to 10 players following a red card, and All-ECC Second Team midfielder Madita Zeitz took advantage with the ‘Cats fourth and final goal just 64 seconds later.
