ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Six

Offensive Player of the Week

Amalie Steen, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Forward | Oslo, Norway

Steen tallied three goals over two games last week for STAC. The freshman midfielder scored the game-winning goal in the Spartans’ 2-1 non-conference win over Maine-Fort Kent on Tuesday before netting both of STAC’s goals in a 2-1 road win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. The Spartans are now unbeaten in the month of October (3-0-1).


Defensive Player of the Week

Skyler Schwenkler, Mercy
Senior | Midfielder | San Diego, CA

Schwenkler recorded a goal in Mercy's 3-0 non-conference win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday and helped lead a Mercy backline that posted two shutouts and surrendered just four shots on goal in two games, including a 2-0 conference win over Staten Island on Saturday. The senior played the full 90:00 in both games.


Rookie of the Week

ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Anneliese Becker, Mercy
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Stafford, VA

Becker went 2-0 with two shutouts and four saves on the week. The freshman goalkeeper opened the week with four saves to earn the 3-0 non-conference win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday before posting her second clean sheet of the week with a 2-0 conference win over Staten Island. 

Samantha Hines-Hirsch, Queens
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Plainview, NY

In the Knights’ lone game of the week, Hines-Hirsch held her with nine saves between the pipes to anchor Queens to a scoreless draw against regionally-ranked No. 10 Georgian Court on Saturday. The Knights’ rookie recorded six saves in the first half and three in the second to earn her third shutout of the year.

Madison Keenan, Molloy
Sophomore | Defender | Selden, NY

Keenan was one of two multiple goal scorers from the back line this week for the Lions, posting five points on two goals and one assist. In Molloy's 3-0 non-conference victory over Bridgeport, Keenan headed in a goal from a free kick while contributing to a shutout as part of the back line on defense. As an encore, the sophomore added a goal and an assist in Molloy’s 3-0 conference win over D’Youville while being part of a defense that did not allow a shot on goal. 

Kylie Miranto, Daemen
Junior | Forward | North Tonawanda, NY

Miranto totaled three points on one goal and one assist in a 2-0 non-conference win over Clarion in Daemen’s lone game of the week on Saturday. The junior forward scored the first goal of the contest, which represented the game-winner, and also supplied an assist on the Wildcats’ second goal of the day.

Elyse Muñoz, Molloy
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | East Setauket, NY

Muñoz made two starts in net in Molloy's 2-0 week. The sophomore goalkeeper made two saves in the Lions' 3-0 victory against former ECC foe Bridgeport and picked up her second shutout of the week in a 2-0 conference win over D'Youville on Saturday. To date, the goalkeeper has tallied three shutouts in her last four matchups with all three clean sheets in conference play.

Becca Schultz, Daemen
Junior | Goalkeeper | Grand Island, NY

Schultz went 1-0 during the week, making nine saves in non-conference action against Clarion on Saturday to help the Wildcats win, 2-0.

Amiah Washington, Mercy
Senior | Forward | Clifton, NJ

Washington had a team-high five points on two goals and one assist, with one game-winning goal in a 2-0 week for Mercy. The senior opened the week with a goal in the Mavericks' 3-0 non-conference win over Chestnut Hill on Tuesday. Washington ended the week with the game-winning goal to go along with an assist in Mercy's 2-0 conference win over Staten Island on Saturday.
