ECC Men's Soccer Report - Week Nine

Co-Offensive Players of the Week

Harry Cooke, Queens
Junior | Forward | Market Drayton, England

In a 2-0 week to conclude the regular season, Cooke recorded two multi-point performances as he notched five goals and one assist en route to 11 points on the week. Cooke began the week recording his fifth brace of the year and notched his seventh assist as the Knights defeated AIC 3-0 to conclude non-conference play on a strong note. In their final regular season game of the year, the junior recorded his third hat trick as the Knights earned a 3-0 over Molloy to conclude the regular season with their 11th victory of the year and ECC play with an overall record of 7-0-1.

Johannes Hanken Tjostheim, Mercy
Junior | Forward | Aalesund, Norway

Hanken Tjostheim had a team-high five goals and 11 points on the week as Mercy went 2-0. The junior opened the week with three goals and an assist at Wilmington on Wednesday and ended the week with two goals on Senior Day in Mercy's win over STAC on Saturday. The forward now has a school-record-tying 22 goals on the year and recorded his 100th career point against STAC. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Tommy Wagner, Queens
Redshirt Sophomore | Defender | East Northport, NY

In a 2-0 week to conclude the regular season, Wagner recorded two assists, helped Queens record one shutout, and held opponents to nine total shots on the week. Wagner would record his first career assist and helped Queens shut out AIC in the 3-0 victory in non-conference play before dishing out his second assist of the year and helping the backline hold Molloy to three total shots as Queens earned a 3-1 victory and concluded ECC play with an overall record of 7-0-1 and its 11th victory of the year. 


Rookie of the Week

Giovanni Llamas, District of Columbia
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Bladensburg, MD

Llamas went 1-0-1 in goal on the week, making 13 saves and allowing only one goal. Llamas posted his second clean sheet of the season against East Stroudsburg, making nine saves. In UDC's 2-1 win over Staten Island, he made four key saves to help the Firebirds earn the No. 6 seed for the playoffs. 


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Isaiah Daniel, District of Columbia
Sophomore | Midfielder | Kent, England

Daniel scored the game-winning goal in the Firebirds’ 2-1 win over Staten Island to secure the No. 6 seed for the playoffs. 

Archie Murphy, Roberts Wesleyan
Sophomore | Forward | Bourne End, England

Murphy scored four goals last week, including three in a 5-0 win at Bloomfield College. He added a goal in the 3-1 win at St. Anselm as the Redhawks closed out the regular season with a pair of road wins.

Ethan Robinson, D’Youville
Sophomore | Forward | Toronto, Ontario

Robinson scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute in the Saints' 3-1 victory over Daemen on Saturday. The win was D'Youville's first against Daemen in program history and clinched the program's first ECC Tournament berth.

Santiago Serrano, Mercy
Junior | Forward | Bogota, Colombia

Serrano had a goal and an assist in Mercy's 3-1 Senior Day win over STAC on Saturday. 

Thanasis Shehadeh, Queens
Redshirt Freshman | Goalkeeper | Nicosia, Cyprus

In a 2-0 week to conclude the regular season, Shehadeh recorded three saves and one shutout. In the Knights' 3-0 victory over AIC Wednesday evening, Shehadeh recorded three saves to earn his eighth shutout of the year. On Saturday against Molloy the goalie would help Queens close out ECC play with a 3-1 victory over Molloy as the Knights concluded the regular season with their 11th victory of the year and ECC play with an overall record of 7-0-1.

Matthew Solorio, D’Youville
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Kansas City, MO

Solorio made three saves on four shots faced to help D'Youville defeat Daemen 3-1 and clinch a spot in the ECC Tournament, the first in program history.
