Isabella Muro, Molloy
Sophomore | Midfielder | Middle Village, NY
Muro collected five points on two goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Lions. The Molloy sophomore midfielder tallied a goal against Staten Island that sealed the Lions’ 3-1 victory. Against Roberts Wesleyan, Muro picked up a goal and assisted on the contest’s first tally en route to a 3-1 victory that clinched the top seed for Molloy in the upcoming ECC Women’s Soccer Championship.
Defensive Player of the Week
Becca Schultz, Daemen
Junior | Goalkeeper | Grand Island, NY
Schultz totaled 23 saves across two matches in a 1-1-0 week for the Wildcats. The Daemen junior goalkeeper made a career-high 16 saves on 41 shots faced against nationally-ranked No. 10 Gannon on Wednesday before stopping seven shots to help Daemen defeat Mercy, 1-0, on Saturday; her 1-0 win against Mercy marked her fourth clean sheet of the year.
Rookie of the Week
Samantha Hines-Hirsch, Queens
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Plainview, NY
In a 2-0 ECC week, Hines-Hirsch recorded 10 saves and posted two key shutouts to help Queens earn the No. 3 seed to the ECC Women’s Soccer Championship. On Wednesday afternoon against Mercy, the rookie recorded three saves to earn her seventh victory and fourth shutout of the year as the Knights defeated the Mavericks for the first time since September 29, 2012. On Sunday afternoon, Hines-Hirsch would notch seven saves to earn her eighth victory and post her fifth shutout of the year as Queens earned their first road victory over the Spartans since October 12, 2013.
ECC Weekly Honor Roll
Mackenzie Hagen, Roberts Wesleyan
Freshman | Forward | Bergen, NY
Hagen scored a goal and added an assist in a 2-1 win at D'Youville, with the winning goal coming with just 8:08 left to play in the second half. The RWU freshman added a goal in a 3-1 loss to Molloy on Saturday. Her goal trimmed a 2-0 lead to 2-1 with just less than 15 minutes to play. The two goals and one assist are her first career points.
Larissa Johnston, Roberts Wesleyan
Junior | Midfielder | Rochester, NY
Johnston scored her second goal of the season to give Roberts a 1-0 lead at D'Youville and the Redhawks went on to post a key 2-1 road win over the Saints.
Ashley Kieblesz, Queens
Sophomore | Midfielder | Middle Village, NY
In a 2-0 ECC week, Kieblesz would help power Queens to the No. 3 seed to the upcoming ECC Women’s Soccer Championship. On Wednesday afternoon, the sophomore would earn the Knights a free kick opportunity from 18 yards out before Erica Petrie delivered the game-winning goal in the victory over Mercy. On Sunday, Kieblesz would be in the right spot at the right time to bury her third game-winning goal of the year in the 2-0 victory over STAC as Queens earned their eighth victory of the year.
Elyse Muñoz, Molloy
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | East Setauket, NY
Muñoz picked up two victories on the back of a pair of 3-1 results. The Molloy sophomore goalkeeper was forced to make one save in a 3-1 win against Staten Island. In the 3-1 win over Roberts Wesleyan, Muñoz denied three shots on the way to the victory.
Erica Petrie, Queens
Senior | Midfielder | Marlboro, NY
Petrie recorded her first-ever goal as a Queens Knight in their first victory over Mercy since September 29, 2012. With the game still scoreless heading into the final 20 minutes of play, sophomore Ashley Kieblesz would earn a free kick outside the 18-yard box and Petrie would step up to the mark. The Marlboro, NY native would bury the opportunity to score the game-winning goal into the top left corner for the lead as the Knights earned their seventh victory of the year.
Julia Ragone, Queens
Senior | Forward/Midfielder | Centereach, NY
In a 2-0 ECC week, Ragone paced the Knights’ offense with two goals for a four-point week. Ragone began the week recording a goal in the 2-0 victory over Mercy to tie a career-best seven-goal season on Wednesday afternoon. On Sunday, the senior would tally a career-best and team-leading eighth goal of the year as the Knights defeated STAC, 2-0.
