ECC Men's Soccer Report - Week Seven

Offensive Player of the Week

Tamas Nagy, Roberts Wesleyan
Fifth Year | Forward | Szár, Hungary

Nagy recorded his fourth career hat trick with all three of RWU’s goals in Roberts Wesleyan’s 3-1 win over District of Columbia on Saturday. The goals and points moved him into the top five on both lists for the ECC this season with 11 goals and 24 points. He is also now tied for second in the conference with three game-winning goals. The critical road win moved Roberts Wesleyan into second place in the ECC standings with one conference game remaining on the schedule.


Defensive Player of the Week

Thanasis Shehadeh, Queens
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | Nicosia, Cyprus

In their lone game of the week, Queens’ Shehadeh recorded three saves to tally his sixth shutout of the year in the Knights’ 2-0 victory over Daemen on Saturday. Shehadeh recorded all of his three saves in the second half to help Queens record its fifth ECC victory of the year.


Rookie of the Week

Omar Daoudi, D’Youville
Freshman | Forward | South Burlington, VT

Daoudi scored the go-ahead goal in the 68th minute in D'Youville's 4-2 win over Staten Island on Saturday.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Dylan Danch, D’Youville
Freshman | Forward | Eria, PA

Danch recorded an assist on the go-ahead goal and went on to score the Saints' fourth goal of the game in D'Youville's 4-2 win over Staten Island on Saturday.

Miguel Espinosa, Staten Island
Senior | Forward | Panama City, Panama

Espinosa found the back of the net twice in CSI's match against D'Youville on Saturday, scoring a pair of game-tying goals. First, the senior secured a takeaway from the opposing goalkeeper and scored his fifth goal of the season on a vacated net.  Later, he sent a powerful strike into the upper corner for his sixth goal of the year.

Kevon Evans, St. Thomas Aquinas
Senior | Forward | Ossining, NY

Evans tallied a goal and an assist in STAC's 2-2 draw with Molloy last week. The senior forward scored his team-leading 11th goal of the season and 32nd of his Spartans career, which set a new program mark.

Johannes Hanken Tjostheim, Mercy
Junior | Forward | Aalesund, Norway

Hanken Tjostheim had a game-high five points on two goals, including the game-winning goal, and one assist in Mercy's 4-1 win over American International on Wednesday. 

Jack Hopson, Roberts Wesleyan
Junior | Midfielder | Essex, England

Hopson led a solid defensive effort for Roberts Wesleyan as the Redhawks allowed just one goal per game in a 1-1 week, including a critical 3-1 win over District of Columbia to move RWU into second place in the ECC standings. In the 3-1 victory, Hopson handed out his team-leading fourth assist of the season on one of the three goals by ECC Player of the Week Tamas Nagy. 

Antonio Sas, Mercy
Senior | Forward |  San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina

Sas had a goal and two assists in Mercy's 4-1 win over AIC on Wednesday. 

Tommy Wagner, Queens
Redshirt Sophomore | Defender | East Northport, NY

Wagner helped the Knights to their seventh shutout of the year in a 2-0 victory over Daemen on Saturday. Wagner recorded a timely team save in the first half to keep the game scoreless before helping to hold the Wildcats to five total shots as Queens earned their fifth ECC victory of the year.
