ECC Women's Soccer Report - Week Five

Offensive Player of the Week

Anna Tavantzis, Queens
Sophomore | Midfielder | Holbrook, NY

In a 4-2 ECC victory over Staten Island on Saturday, Tavantzis turned in a career-best performance, notching her first career brace and one assist for a career-best five points. Tavantzis scored in each half and completed her evening with the match-winning assist on Ashley Kieblesz's game-winner (62’) as Queens earned its second ECC victory of the year. 


Defensive Player of the Week

Elyse Muñoz, Molloy
Sophomore | Goalkeeper | East Setauket, NY

Muñoz made two starts in net in Molloy's 1-0-1 week. The sophomore made six saves in the Lions' 1-1 draw with Jefferson on Thursday, before collecting a shutout against Daemen on Saturday. Against the Wildcats, Muñoz made another six saves, including a game-saving denial in the final three minutes to secure Molloy's 1-0 victory. On the week, Muñoz made 12 saves, collected a .923 save percentage, and a 0.50 GAA.


Rookie of the Week

Ninni Ringstad, St. Thomas Aquinas
Freshman | Midfielder | Moss, Norway

Ringstad scored twice to help STAC to its first victory of the season, a 4-1 decision over D'Youville on Saturday.


ECC Weekly Honor Roll

Anneliese Becker, Mercy
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Stafford, VA

Becker went 2-0 in goal with five saves, a 0.50 goals-against average and .833 save percentage with one shutout. The freshman opened the week with two saves to earn the shutout win over New Haven on Wednesday. Becker ended the week with three saves and just one goal allowed in Mercy's win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. 

Ancksu Dixon, Mercy
Junior | Forward | Freeport, NY

Dixon had a goal and an assist in a 2-0 week for Mercy. The junior opened the week with an assist in the win over New Haven on Wednesday and scored the game-winning goal in Mercy's 2-1 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. 

Samantha Hines-Hirsch, Queens
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Plainview, NY

Hines-Hirsch recorded 13 saves on the week. In a 5-0 loss to No. 13 Southern New Hampshire, Hines-Hirsch notched a career-best 11 saves before the rookie recorded two key saves to help the Knights defeat Staten Island 4-2 for their second ECC victory of the year.

Kaitlyn Maguire, St. Thomas Aquinas
Junior | Defender/Midfielder | Wilmington, MA

Maguire tallied two goals and added a helper in the Spartans’ matches against Staten Island and D'Youville, as STAC went 1-0-1 on the week.

Hailey Metzger, Mercy
Freshman | Forward | Levittown, NY

Metzger assisted on both goals in Mercy's 2-1 win over Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday. 

Isabella Muro, Molloy
Sophomore | Midfielder | Middle Village, NY

Muro tallied six shots, including three on goal, against Daemen on Saturday. The sophomore netted the game-winning goal against the Wildcats in the 55th minute to secure Molloy’s 1-0 victory. 

Erica Petrie, Queens
Senior | Midfielder | Marlboro, NY

Petrie recorded her first two assists of the year in the Knights' 4-2 victory over Staten Island on Saturday evening. With the game tied 1-1 in the second half, Petrie notched her first assist of the year off a corner kick before tallying her second assist of the game 10 minutes later off another corner kick opportunity. 

Skyler Schwenkler, Mercy
Senior | Midfielder | San Diego, CA

Schwenkler scored two goals, including the game-winning goal in Mercy's 4-0 win over New Haven on Wednesday. The defensive midfielder played a total of 163 minutes out of 180 minutes total and helped lead a Maverick backline that allowed just one goal combined in two wins this week.
