Baseball Falls in Season Opener to Molloy
YAPHANK, N.Y. - The Southern New Hampshire University baseball team opened the 2008 season with a 18-13 non-league loss to Molloy College at Baseball Heaven Saturday afternoon. The Penmen are now 0-1 on the season while the Lions are 3-2 on the season. Saturday's scheduled doubleheader was shortened to a single game due to weather concerns.
Freshman Tim Rines (Northfield, NH) went 5-6 at the plate to lead SNHU in his collegiate debut. Jeff Giannino (Beverly, MA) went 3-4 with a double, while Ryan Thompson (Westford, MA) roped a pair of triples and scored twice. Eric Pelletier (Beverly, MA) scored three runs and registered a double.
SNHU returns to action Sunday when it travels to Dowling College for a noon contest.
