The Dowling College men's soccer team and the C.W. Post women's soccer team claimed slots on their respective National Soccer Coaches Association of American/adidas Preseason Poll, released on August 12. The Golden Lions cracked the top ten, coming in at #9 while the Pioneers nabbed a #15 national ranking.
Dowling (17-3-3) claimed their second consecutive ECC Title last season and made an NCAA run that ended in the Quarterfinals with a loss to Franklin Pierce. The #9 Golden Lions kick off the season on August 29 when they play host to #17 UMASS-Lowell.
C.W. Post finished up their 2007 campaign with a 17-1-3 overall record after clinching the ECC Title and advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals where they dropped to West Chester in a 5-3 decision in penalty kicks. The Pioneers will open the 2008 season on August 29 at Assumption when they take on #9 St. Rose in the Nike Kickoff Classic.
