
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. --- Kymira Woodberry of Molloy was named All-Met Division II women's college basketball player of the year Thursday by the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Basketball Writers Assn.
John Burke of Dominican was selected coach of the year.
Joining Woodberry on the All-Met first team: Gianna Smith, Adelphi, last season's player of the year; Mackenzie Lynch, Caldwell; Amanda Bartlett, Queens; Takiyah Ingram, St. Thomas Aquinas; Dana Rotio, Dominican; Adele Laskowski, Dominican.
The All-Met second team comprised: Marissa Franklin, Bloomfield; Stephanie Klingele, Pace; Randi Bender, Molloy; Althea Chambers, Dominican; Whitney Murrer, C.W. Post; Dana Leary, Caldwell.
A sophomore guard/forward from Boston, Woodberry led the Lions with 17.1 ppg, 10.7 rpg (13th in the nation) and was East Coast Conference tournament MVP.
In his seventh year at the helm, Burke guided the Chargers to a 22-9 overall record, the CACC championship game and the first NCAA tournament berth in school history.
The All-Met awards will be presented Thursday evening, April 17, at the Giants Stadium Club in East Rutherford, N.J.
